Microsoft Admits Mistake, Removes Inflammatory FTC Lawsuit Claim

Microsoft has removed claims that the Federal Trade Commission violates the US Constitution and admits that it made a mistake.

According to a report from Axios, the new filing still holds to the previous version’s central argument–that Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard would not stifle competition. However, a five bullet-point section claiming that the FTC’s structure and in-house administrative court violates the Constitution, the separation of powers, as well as the due process clause of the fifth Amendment, has been removed.

A Microsoft representative told Axios that, “The FTC has an important mission to protect competition and consumers, and we quickly updated our response to omit language suggesting otherwise based on the constitution. We initially put all po…

Miyamoto- I Am No Genius

Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the most famous and groundbreaking creative types across all of entertainment, but the man himself doesn’t agree that he’s a genius. As part of Nintendo’s latest earnings briefing, Miyamoto pushed back against the suggestion that he’s been able for decades to turn out hit after hit because he’s a “genius.”

“You referred to me as a ‘genius,’ but I consider myself quite ordinary,” he said.

Miyamoto went on to say he gives a speech each year to Nintendo’s new hires, and the feedback he gets from these people is that he is “surprisingly ordinary.”

Making great games allows Miyamoto to have an easier career, he said. “I often think it would be fun if I didn’t have to work, so I’m always thinking about things like, well, if I have t…

The continued consolidation in the industry has raised questions among the community of antitrust violations and if that could impact the deal.

GameSpot spoke with lawyer Richard Hoeg, who said these potential pitfalls are unlikely to scuttle the acquisition altogether. However, the deal will certainly attract the close attention of the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ), and regulators could request some changes that make the acquisition look different than initially planned. To start, he said, Microsoft is likely to argue that the overall gaming …

“There is no question that the planet is there. Webb’s pristine data validate it,” Lustig-Yaeger said.

“The fact that it is also a small, rocky planet is impressive for the observatory,” Stevenson added.

NASA’s Mark Clampin said this discovery could “open the door to …
